To reinforce its Peacebuilding Analysis & Impact (PAI) team, swisspeace is looking for a
Senior Program Officer Adaptive Management (80-100%)
Starting date: 1 May 2022 (or by agreement)
The Peacebuilding Analysis & Impact team is the methodology innovation hub of swisspeace. Our mission is to help our partners and clients to improve analysis, management, and learning processes to ultimately increase the effectiveness and positive impact of their work in conflict-affected contexts. We are at the forefront of advancing conflict sensitivity and adaptive management both in research and policy as well as in institutional practice. The PAI team is expanding its work on complexity-informed approaches and adaptive management, aiming to increase aid effectiveness in conflict-affected contexts. The focus of this new position is to broaden the knowledge base and practice portfolio on how adaptive management can enhance the positive impact of aid in highly complex settings.
Your tasks:
Shape and lead swisspeace’s work on adaptive management and complexity-informed approaches, including expansion of advisory and practice-oriented research activities and acquisition of new projects and mandates
Provide senior expertise for improving the impact of humanitarian, development and peacebuilding work in different conflict contexts
Design and deliver trainings, coaching and other capacity-building activities for partners in conflict contexts, in collaboration with the University of Basel and internationally
Aspire to develop a team working on these topics, manage projects and staff
Represent swisspeace vis-à-vis local and international partners and expand our network
Your profile:
A passion for improving international aid in conflict contexts and an aspiration to shape and grow swisspeace’s work in the fields of adaptive management
A minimum of 8 years of relevant working experience in peacebuilding or aid in fragile and conflict-affected contexts, incl. extensive field experience in conflict contexts
Highly developed advisory skills for a wide range of clients
Proven experience in delivering training and coaching activities
Broad network in the field of international cooperation in Switzerland and internationally
Team player with an ability to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
Availability to travel frequently, including to conflict-affected contexts
Excellent spoken and written English and French (other languages are assets)
